At the Sacred Heart Hospital, Carla works as the head nurse.
She often overreacts and always gives pieces of advice to her friends on how to live their lives (especially J.D.), but her suggestions are usually ignored, despite the fact that she seems to be always right. In the fifth season, she calls her desire to tell others what to do “her crack.” Although she has many problems to deal with, no one laughs at her and whenever someone actually does, she overreacts and humiliates them. In the long run, all the characters listen to her advice.
